-1- Length and Dates of Contract

-2- Work Schedules and Remuneration
The teacher will be required to teach up to five days per week. Any days between Monday and Saturday.
No more than 28 class contact hours will be assigned per week.
Monthly salary of 245,000 yen will be paid on the last business day of each month.
-3- Office Hours and Other Duties
In addition to and including class teaching hours, the employee is responsible for attending open study sessions, school events and parties during school office hours on non-class teaching days up to a maximum of 35 hours per week.
Lesson planning, lesson notes and other office duties are to be performed during these hours when applicable.
-4- Japanese Government Taxes
All relevant Japanese taxes will be deducted from the the Employees monthly salary by the Company and paid to the Japanese Government in accordance with Japanese law.
Overtime shall be paid at the rate of 2,000 yen per hour for every class contact or authorised teaching hour worked over 28 hours per week.
Upon successful completion of this contract, eligible employees are entitled to a completion bonus of 50,000 yen.
Raises are offered to employees who successfully complete a their working contract. Remuneration is 3% of gross salary and to be determined by an end of year review.
Employees will receive 3 set weeks paid vacation. 1 week in May (Golden Week), 1 week in August (Obon) and 1.5 weeks during Christmas / New Year in addition to 10 national public holidays. See Company Yearly Schedule for exact dates.
Employees without former ESL experience will complete two weeks of training in order to familiarise themselves with company teaching materials and methods.
The Employee will receive 1,500 yen per hour for all class hours attended.
Upon the successful completion of the training period, the Employee will be remunerated as a full time instructor as stated in section 2.
The Employer agrees to pay for an apartment, up to a maximum of 35,000 yen per month.
The Employee agrees to pay for any monthly rent in excess of 35,000 yen provided by the Employer if applicable.
The Employee is responsible for all cleaning, utilities and telecommunication costs.
The Employee is responsible for returning apartment to its “original state” upon finishing their contract and will be deemed responsible for any and all unreasonable damages to the property.
The Employer reserves the right to deduct any and all expenses required in returning the apartment to it original condition.
-11- Apartment Key Money
The Employer agrees to paying all key monies to the landlord in accordance with Japanese custom and law.
Teachers will not be reimbursed for daily transportation costs to and from their residence, but a bicycle will be provided for the teachers sole use.
For any and all dispatch classes, or for any other work-related duties outside of the company, the company shall reimburse the teacher for the transportation costs at months end.
Transportation reimbursement is strictly limited to public transportation of trains and buses.
Employee bears transportation costs to and from Japan.
-13- Visa Fees
The Employer agrees to the payment of all fees associated with securing a working visa and sponsorship for said Employee.
-14- Health Insurance & Pension Fees
The Employee agrees to pay all Japanese health insurance and pension premiums in accordance to Japanese Law, if required to do so.
-15- Contract Cancellation
Refusal to follow company policy as written in the Company Policy Handbook in force on the date of signing of this contract will be just cause for contract termination.
Upon termination by employer Employee is entitled to payment for all days worked before the termination of said contract.
Both employer and employee agree to providing 1 months written notice of intent to terminate contract prematurely. Both employer and employee will both try to resolve any disagreement with all sincerity.
